Seattle!

I've been a bit neglectful of my blog lately so there is a lot to catch you up on. First there are the Tuesday track workouts. Elisha and I have gone twice and let me tell you, they suck. But in a good way. I suppose. Perhaps I should make a list of the pros and the cons of track workouts to better illustrate what I mean.

Pros:
  • They're totally out of my comfort zone, but it's always good to try new things!
  • They will make my other runs easier (or so I'm told)
  • We can socialize during our rests! We've already met a few cool people at them.
Cons:
  • They're totally out of my comfort zone, which is intimidating and a little terrifying.
  • They're making my foot hurt a bit. I broke three bones in my left foot eight years ago and it's never been a problem, but the track thing is making me feel a residual achy pain there. So the question is, am I making that part of my foot stronger or am I just running the risk of re-injuring it?
Part of the reason that my foot has been hurting could also be that it's time to change shoes, so this week I will be undertaking Operation New Shoes! We'll see if that helps at all.

I recently added a running log to the blog (see left). That's probably only interesting to me, but feel free to check it out if you feel like it. In fact, if you've been reading it, you will have noticed that lately I've been running in Seattle! Franck and I went with a few friends to Seattle over Spring Break and I am proud to report that I did all of my scheduled running even while on vacation. It was a lot of fun to run somewhere new! My favorite part of the trip was my long run on Sunday with Anna around Lake Union in the POURING rain.

We also ate a lot of good food. Anna took us to Café Presse, which is owned by the same people as Le Pichet. As you've probably guessed by the name, Café Presse specializes in French food and is nearly 100% French from the 'presse' sign outside (it's the same sign you'd find outside of a French newsstand/tabac) to the menu en français. I could not pass up the raclette!

In addition to running and eating, we also went out to a few cool places and met up with one of my childhood friends and my cousin who both now live in Seattle.

All in all it was a good trip but it's always good to be home and sleep in one's own bed again. It was also difficult to miss an entire week of the group training program. I know this will sound crazy, but I'm actually really looking forward to getting up at the crack of dawn tomorrow and running with RWM!

déjà all

On verra si ça aide.

On a bien mangé à Seattle.
